Common Questions
What support can you provide for families?
I provide practical guidance and emotional support to help families navigate the complexities of dementia care. This can include helping you understand what may be happening, preparing for difficult conversations, knowing what questions to ask and look at further sources of support.
How do I book a consultation?
Consultations can be booked online through the website. Your consultation will take place via Zoom, giving you the convenience and privacy of talking from your own home.
Can you help me make sense of what's happening?
Absolutely. Dementia can be confusing and overwhelming, especially when you're trying to understand changes in your loved ones behaviour or circumstances. I can help you talk through what you're experiencing, answer your questions and help you feel clearer about what to do next.
What resources do you recommend?
I can recommend reliable sources of information and support that may be helpful to you and your family. Where appropriate, I can also help you identify organisations or services that may be able to provide further support.
Who is the consultation for?
The consultation is for family members and loved ones who are supporting someone living with dementia. Whether you're newly facing a diagnosis, struggling with a particular situation, or simply unsure what to do next, I can offer guidance, reassurance and a safe space to talk things through.
What can we talk about during a consultation?
You can talk about whatever is concerning you. This might include changes in behaviour, communication, personal care, refusing help, managing difficult situations, understanding dementia, relationships, or simply feeling overwhelmed by your caring role. We can talk through what is happening, explore ways forward and help you feel more confident and less alone about the next steps.
What if i need more than one consultation?
That's absolutely fine. Every family is different, and sometimes one conversation is not enough. You can book another one to one consultation whenever you feel you need further support, guidance or reassurance. There is no requirement to book a set number of sessions.
Is this medical or professional advice?
No. The consultation provides practical guidance information and emotional support based on my experiance working in dementia care. It is not medical, diagnostic or clinical service, and i can not provide medical advice or replace advice from a GP, healthcare professional or other qualified practitioner.
Where appropriate, i may suggest that you seek further support from the relevant professional or service.
What if I don't know what to ask?
That's okay. You don't need to prepare anything beforehand, simply tell me what's been happening and what you are finding difficult, and i will gently guide the conversation. Together we can work through concerns and identify steps that may help.
